NFQHA & The Peter Stone Horse Company
Announce Foundation QH Model

Bower & Clark QHs’ Lowry Star JR Chosen

NFQHA is proud to announce that The Peter Stone Horse Company has chosen an NFQHA certified horse as their model for the Foundation Quarter Horse. “We are thrilled that Peter Stone contacted NFQHA when his company decided they wanted to produce a Foundation Quarter Horse model.” said NFQHA President Gail Zscheile.
After much thought and deliberation The Peter Stone Horse Company chose Bower & Clark QHs’ Lowry Star JR.
Stone said his company wanted to produce a Foundation Quarter Horse model because they wanted a model of the working ranch horse. “These horses are the unsung heros. They are not going to shows with silver bridles and saddles, they are using horses.” said Stone.
Peter also said that Lowry Star JR was chosen over several other horses after a lot of deliberation. “We looked at a lot of Foundation Quarter Horses. But we felt that the Lowry Star horses were authentic horses. The Bower family make their living with their horses. They are not investment horses.” he stated.
“Also there has not been a lot of focus on the roping horse in model horses. The Lowry Star horses have a long history and reputation of being really good rope horses.”
Jim and Dena Bower of Worland, WY own Lowry Star JR and are excited that he was chosen. Lowry Star JR is by their outstanding sire Lowry Star and out of Charm N Miss Kitty. The Bowers breed and raise rope horses who suit everyone from a #1 USTRC team roper to a NFR cowboy.
Peter also said he was pleased that the Lowry Star horses are located in Wyoming. “The horses in this part of the country are bred to be working ranch horses. The terrain and weather are tough and so are these horses.”
Lowry Star JR will be sculpted in an action position that has never been done before. The sculpter is Kitty Cantrell who has done many models for the company. She has the photos and will be visiting the Bowers and Lowry Star JR to see the horse in person.
“We have had an appendix-type Quarter Horse in our line for many years. It was sculpted by Carol Williams of Kansas and it has served us extremely well and been used in many replicas. We expect our Foundation Quarter Horse model to be equally successful.”
Stone said they are hoping for a release date around the end of the year.

About The Peter Stone Horse Company
Peter Stone’s father was the founder of the legendary Breyer Horse Company. He made their first model horse in 1950 when Peter was ten years old.
‘The business has been dinner-table talk all my life.” Peterr states. He went to work at Breyer and became President and owner of the company in 1965. The family sold Breyeer to another company in 1984 but Peter continued with Breyer until 1996.
That year he formed the Peter Stone Company and has been owner and President for the past eleven years.
